Sliding Barn Door Media Center

Completed - 15th November 2016

The overall look turned out extremely better than what I had originally expected. This cabinet is extremely sturdy and can fit many of the larger tv screens. This build was based off of the Grandy Sliding Door Console.

This was a project that took a few weekends to complete as the painting and staining part takes a while to dry. The cutting and assembly of the main cabinet can be done and assembled over the first weekend, and the painting and staining the following weekend.

Hanging Chess Art Piece

Completed - 1st March 2017

In Chess, a "Hanging Piece", is known as being "en prise" (being exposed to capture). So, what better way to display the state of play than on a vertical board.

While spending some time in California, I came across a traditional set of chess pieces I felt were perfect for this classic game. After a couple of days of assembly from the scrap material in the garage, I had a custom board that transitioned well into my personal living space.

Tyrannosaurus Rex Skull

Completed - 2nd April 2022

3D printing allows physical replicas of dinosaur skulls that would otherwise be difficult or expensive to obtain be placed in the hands of everyone.

There are 3 key benefits of small projects like this:
  • Education: Printing a dinosaur skull can provide a hands-on learning experience for students studying paleontology or biology. They can study the skull up close and gain a deeper understanding of the anatomy and evolution of dinosaurs.
  • Artistic expression: 3D printing technology allows for the creation of intricate and detailed dinosaur skulls, making them not only educational but also aesthetically pleasing works of art.
  • Affordability: Compared to buying a real dinosaur skull, printing one is much more affordable, making it accessible to a wider range of people.

Tyrannosaurus Rex Skeleton

Completed - 2nd April 2022

One of the most desired 3D model one can print. This model turned out to be larger than what my 3D printer could handle as it turned out the height of the prints would get cut short. Having already printed a lot of the key components, I sliced the model into smaller chunks and then glued the pieces together to achieve the needed scale.

  • 2kg of filament
  • Scaled up 2.5x Orginal
  • 150 Hours Print Time

The model is perfectly balanced on the stand, however it is important to make the pieces thicker as you scale up. Especially when scaled at more than 2x the original model size.
